After a long break (due to personal reasons I need to save a LOT of money, so I am in a work-frenzy) I am posting another page of my SETIconII journal, this one is -actually- about the very first day of SETIconII. I hope you enjoy!
Santa Clara Day 3
June 22, 2012
I went to sleep very late last night and didn’t had any plans early in the morning so I thought about sleeping really late today, but a sunshine ray went thru the curtains and woke me up at 6:30 am!
I stayed in bed a little bit longer but sleep eluded me completely, so I began to dress up and put some make up on, I took my time doing it and ordering my mess (the mess in my room, not in my face) a little bit.
I went downstair to have breakfast by 9:30 am (after being sure that I have more than enough money to pay for the hotel and so on -one of my credit cards was blocked yesterday) I choose the breakfast buffet (yesterday I only had 1 meal, I survived thru the day thanks to some delicious chocolates that Barbara always has in her office).
After finishing my breakfast (fruit and yogurt, 1 bacon strip, 1 sausage, an spinach omelette, coffee, juice and a croissant) went up to my room, brushed my teeth and went outside, next to the hotel’s pool to write this lines, it’s 11:00 am and SETIconII will begin by 3:00 pm, so I think I am going to read and chill out for a couple of hours now!
I read and relaxed for one hour, then I went to my room and tried to sleep but I couldn’t, so by 1 pm I went downstair to the convention center and the people of the SETI Institute was already busy setting up all the things for the event, and since I had nothing to do I stayed and helped Alba to put price tags, do some inventory and ordering T-shirts; by 3 pm I went to register but they were truly busy and behind schedule trying to get ID tags inside envelopes, so I stayed there and helped them too (I felt like being on a quilting bee)
At 4:20 pm we ended what we were doing and I went to say hi to some of my Facebook friends, like Carolyn Collins Petersen and Danielle Futselaar who is the SETIcon art designer and meet her at Seth’s facebook page (she told me she knew me because of my blog -this blog!) she called me “the cosmic blog girl” and I think that is a very cool nickname! I felt so happy and honored to know that someone not only read my blog but also likes it!! (to be continue)
P.S. Here are some pics I took when I was helping some of the staff prior SETIconII, these are some of the wonderful auction items they had. Enjoy!
